While I was at Slow Down Coffee up the street from my office today for my weekly coffee visit, I picked up a copy of "Finance For The People" by Paco de Leon. And in it they write,
"Power gets a bad rap. Some people who seek it do so in order to wield it over others. I want to have power because I don't want it wielded over me. Becoming empowered in a society that doesn't want me to be empowered is one of the single most radical actions I can take."
Millennials are the fastest growing segment of first time homebuyers in the United States in 2022. The term millennial encompasses those in ages about 26 to 41. I myself am 41. So here I am an elder millennial.
I know firsthand that we as a generation do not like to be sold to. For me there is nothing worse than feeling powerless in this situation. We want to understand things for ourselves and not be told what to do.
Historically, real estate professionals have been in a category of people who use secretive or misleading sales tactics. Many in this industry have worked hard to rewrite this industry standard. But unfortunately, there are still some who do not practice in a way that is forthcoming.
I don't want to sell you anything. I don't want to convince you to buy anything or manipulate you into choices you do not want to make. I hope to empower you so that you can make your own decisions. Learn to trust your own instincts better and move forward in power in all your real estate choices.
